English Mastiffs are believed to be ancient hounds. Their ancestors were known to the Romans, and perhaps, Egyptians. Mastiff-like hounds were used as war hounds, and guarded their masters during long marches. These are very big hounds that are about 175-190 pounds of weight. Not any dog breeder can be trusted; dogs from irresponsible kennels can be prone to various problems.
